These Signs Are Wrong in All the Right Ways
Just Like The Good Old Days
Believe it or not, smoking used to be incredibly common in public spaces. Back then, people didn’t fully understand the health risks, like its link to cancer, or the dangers of lighting up in confined areas like airplanes. Times have certainly changed. Nowadays, smokers face strict restrictions and have limited options for where they can indulge. Public smoking bans have become the norm, with designated areas few and far between
However, there’s always an exception to the rule—like this boat, for instance. Whoever painted the sign could’ve simply written “No Smoking” or “Safety First,” and the message would’ve been crystal clear. Instead, they combined the two, creating a confusing phrase: “No safety, smoking first.” Now, anyone caught smoking has plausible deniability. Could this be a clever loophole or just a poorly thought-out warning? Either way, it’s a reminder of how far we’ve come in prioritizing public health and safety.
