Thanks, Language Expert

If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry, right? The internet can be a downright silly place, especially with so many people online who try to gatekeep things for themselves. While we applaud anyone who’s watched enough anime to become an expert on characters and storylines, no one can claim to be an expert on another person

Seriously, who has the authority to tell someone what their first language is or isn’t? Just because someone watches anime doesn’t mean they can magically determine if another person’s first language is Japanese. It’s a stretch, don’t you think? Yet, this person clearly missed the memo when they posted their opinion online. Gatekeeping culture often stems from a desire to feel superior, but it only ends up alienating others. At the end of the day, the internet should be a space for connection, not exclusion. So, why not focus on sharing passions rather than policing them? After all, isn’t that what fandom is all about?
